La Taverna del Mar is a jewel of Catalan Modernism listed as a Cultural Property of Local Interest. Founded in 1936 by Josep Ensesa Gubert, creator of S’Agaró and Hostal de La Gavina, it has always stood out for its beauty, location and its seafood. In 2014, the Ensesa family completely renovated the restaurant and, with the help of Hostal de La Gavina and Romain Fornell, its gastronomic advisor, launched a new gastronomic proposal with the aim of offering a quality product and a unique experience on the Costa Brava.
Leading the kitchen, Lluís Planas, a native of Palamós, offers a 100% Mediterranean menu with the best wild fish, seafood from our coasts and a selection of the most succulent rice dishes. In the dining room, Jaume Solé from Castell d’Aro directs the service and offers an elegant, varied and quality wine cellar to accompany all meals.
During the summer months, from June to September, La Taverna del Mar incorporates new services such as breakfasts and snacks on the Terrace Front De Mar from 10 am, a catering service for the boats in the bay, the century old bathhouses of the Banys de S’Agaró and the Chill-out and Club Taverna terraces to enjoy the best drinks on summer nights.
